Hello friends,
I bought my first bunch of daffodils this week and it really made my day. I always forget how unbelievably bright they are and how much sunshine they bring to my windowsill; a warm reminder that Spring is well and truly on the way. If you need a cheap but effective way to jazz up your mood, then I suggest picking up a bunch or two.
In other news, I made a couple dozen cookies to send to my publishers this week as they start to send out advance copies of my new book, I’ll Bring Dessert (out in less than two months! eek!) I made the preserved lemon and olive oil cookies and I completely forgot how much I loved them. It’s a strange thing writing a cookbook. You spend months and months living and breathing all the recipes, getting way too close to them to remember why they felt special in the first place. But coming back to it after some time away and simply following the recipe felt significant. Memories of me scribbling down the initial idea in my scrappy notebook came rushing back as well as the countless tests to get the soft fudgy interior just right. A proper full circle moment. And now I’m even more excited for you all to see and use the book!
In the meantime, I’ve got a different type of cookie recipe for paid subscribers this week. Something simple and buttery and very coconutty. The very best kind of afternoon pick me up.
