Sticky Miso & Banana Cake
a very non summer recipe that I've been craving for weeks

Welcome back to another week of Sweet Things!
It’s been a mostly quiet week or so for me but a little highlight was a recent South London bakery tour I did with a friend. I’ll be sharing all of my favourite spots in my end of month round up but I’m sure lots of you will be able to work out one of the stops from this picture below. I loved the saffron teacake and have had the chocolate chip soy sauce cookie a couple of times before and it’s always been excellent.
This week, I’ve got a recipe that might feel like it’s few months too early but I’d say it accurately represents the shocking state of summer in the UK right now. Endless rain and grey skies have prematurely put me in a mood where all I want to do is curl up on the sofa with a warm pudding and watch old episodes of Real Housewives (Atlanta, of course). I’ve not been able to get the idea of a sticky, sweet and salty dessert out of my mind so why not just lean into it? Who knows, by next week I’ll probably be in more of a summery mood with lots of berries and stone fruit for you but for now, this sticky miso & banana cake is all I’m after.
