Would this work as 2 x 8 inch rounds? Looks a beautiful sponge and my daughter’s birthday is 3 weeks away…

There's a lot of batter so I think it would work better in 3 x 8 inch rounds!

I’m making this for Sunday! Would it be too early to bake the cake tonight? I thought I could cling wrap it well then frost it tomorrow night ahead of Sunday birthday party.

This cake looks delicious; any advice about keeping it flat?

Whenever I make cakes, I seem to end up with a dome in the middle.

Sometimes it can be down to oven temp! Your oven might be running hotter than you think and then the edges of the cake bakes faster causing the middle to dome. Try turning the the temperature down a little and see if that helps. Or sometimes it can happen if you overfill the cake tins!

Thanks very much, Benjamina! I'll try baking at 325 instead of 350.

I love this Benji! It couldn’t have come at a better time as my twins turn 6 next week and I always make one of your cakes now 🄰 Your earl gray traybake is perfect for bday cakes as you say. Last year I did your raspberry yogurt honey cake from a good day to bake but skipped the honey and added white chocolate buttercream to cover (plus some art decorations as they had an arts and crafts party). It was very popular

Just made this cake. It’s delicious with a perfect texture. The sour cream makes such a difference. Thank you. Quick question, is it okay to reduce the sugar in recipes without changing any of the other quantities?

I made this cake for my nieces bday today and it was amazing! I changed the frosting to a Swiss meringue & it definitely served way more than 12 people. Perfect size for a large gathering! So yummy thank you .

Thank you for this. 🤩🄳 Will it work if it served with the icing and fresh strawberries?

Looks like a perfect recipe! I have a cake to make for my 3-year-old-to-be in a couple of weeks time. Could you layer this cake recipe? Can’t wait to have a go at making this šŸ˜
